reset tiktok fyp

Do you want to reset your TikTok For You Page (FYP)? If so, this article will explain exactly how.

You may be getting bored of the videos you are seeing on your FYP, or you may dislike. If this is the case, you should consider resetting your For You Page, which means TikTok will show you new and different styles of content.

We will explain multiple different methods of resetting your For You Page, so make sure you read them all. There is a video at the end of the article as well.

Lets get right in to this!

1. Clear cache on TikTok

The first way you can try to reset your FYP page is by clearing the cache on TikTok.

According to MakeUseOf, the cache helps apps like TikTok load faster when they already have pre-loaded data that doesn’t need to be downloaded from the web every time the user logs in. In simpler terms, the cache helps speed up loading times by storing temporary data on your device.

For example, an app like TikTok will store temporary files related to your watch history, your profile, and your posts in the cache.

In order to reset the cache on TikTok, you need to go to your TikTok profile.

So, tap on the “Profile” button which looks like a singular person.

Once you are on your profile, you need to navigate to the top right of the page and you will see three horizontal bars on top of each other. This is a button to launch a menu. Tap on it.

From the menu, you need to select “Settings and privacy”.

This will launch the settings page.

Next, you need to scroll down the settings page until you see the section titled “Cache & Cellular Data”.

In this section, you will see the option to “Clear cache”. On the right hand side, it will show you how many megabytes the cache currently is.

So, when you clear the cache, you will also free up storage on your device as well.

Now, tap on “Clear cache”.

A few seconds after tapping the button, the cache will reset to 0 megabytes. This means that the cache has successfully been cleared.

2. Mark content as “Not interested”

Another way you can reset your TikTok FYP is by telling TikTok what content you don’t want to see.

A great way of telling TikTok what content you don’t want to see is by marking it as “Not interested”.

In order to mark content as not interested, you need to find a video on your FYP that you don’t want to see anymore.

Then, you need to hold your finger on the video. A menu will then slide up from the bottom of your phone with a few different options to choose from.

You need to select “Not interested”.

If you don’t see this option, this means that you are not on your FYP. This option is only available for videos on your For You Page.

Once you mark a video as “Not interested”, this will tell TikTok you don’t want to see this type of content anymore.

You may need to do this multiple times to other videos as well, because TikTok has to learn what you dislike.

3. Engage with content you want to see more of

A third way of resetting your For You Page is to engage with content you want to see more of.

TikTok’s aim is to keep you on the platform for as long as possible. So, when you engage with a piece of content, like by liking the video and commenting, this shows you like it.

Then, TikTok will show you more of this type of content.

So, when you see a video you like, you should engage with it because this is a way of telling TikTok you would like to see more similar content.

However, if you aren’t seeing much content you want to see more of, then there is a way to speed this process up.

In order to get new styles of content in to your FYP, you need to find it and engage with it.

So, tap on the “Friends” button which looks a two big and small people standing next to each other.

At the top of the Friends page, there is a search bar. You need to search for content you would like to see.

For example, if you want to see content on your FYP based around dancing, search for “dancing”.

After you have searched for it, you can filter the results for videos only by tapping on “Videos” in the top bar.

Now, you will see videos that are something to do with dancing. So, scroll through and engage with them by liking and commenting on the videos.

You can repeat this by searching for other types of content you would like to see and engaging with it.

Hopefully, after a few days the content you have been engaging with will start to appear in your FYP! If it doesn’t, search for it again and continue to engage with it more.

4. Create a new TikTok account

A further way you can reset your TikTok FYP is by creating a new account.

This means TikTok will have no information on what content you like, so it will be easier to teach TikTok what you enjoy watching.

In order to create a new account, you need to tap on the “Profile” button in the bottom right of TikTok.

Now, you can either create a new account, or log-in to an existing one.

Once you have created a new account, you can keep your old account, or you can delete it.

But, if you delete it remember that you will lose all of the information on it, such as videos, drafts, messages, and much more.

Delete your old TikTok account

If you want to delete your TikTok account and understand you will lose your data and information, then follow these steps.

Firstly, go to your TikTok profile.

Next, you need to go to your settings. So, tap on the three horizontal lines in the top right of the page.

Then, you can select “Settings and privacy”.
