You may find that you’re getting bored of the current content on your TikTok For You Page, which is based on your interests, and so you need to change your interests!
We have included multiple different ways to change your interests on TikTok, so make sure you try them all.

1. Mark content as “Not interested”
The first way you can change your interests on TikTok is by marking content you don’t want to see on your For You Page as “Not interested”.
This will notify TikTok that you don’t like seeing that type of content, and they will show you different types of videos.
In order to mark content as “Not interested”, you must be on your For You Page.
Then, you need to hold your finger on the video. A menu will slide up with a few different options, and you need to tap on “Not interested”.
The video will be removed from your FYP and TikTok will start to learn that you don’t like that style of content.
You should mark other content as “Not interested” as well if you don’t want it on your FYP.
TikTok may take some time to learn what content you dislike, so keep marking content you don’t like as “Not interested”.
2. Engage with new styles of content
The second way you can change your interests on TikTok is by engaging with new content.
This means that, when you see content you enjoy and want to see more of, you need to like the video and comment on it because this shows TikTok you enjoy it and are engaging with it, which is what they want.
So, this means you should not engage with content you don’t want to see more of as well. So, avoid liking and commenting on videos and content you want to see less of.
Also, you may not be seeing the content you want to see on your FYP. In this case, you should tap on the “Friends” button with the two people as the icon.
Then, at the top of the Friends page there is a search bar. You should search for the type of content you would like to see. For example, gaming content.
You need to filter the search results for “Videos” by tapping on the filter at the top of the screen.
This will then show you all the videos that relate to gaming.
Now, you need to engage with these videos by liking and commenting on them.
You can repeat this for any other topics you are interested in and would like on your For You Page.
3. Clear the TikTok cache
The third way you can try to reset your interests on TikTok, is to clear your cache.
The cache is where the data is stored. It will improve the loading speeds the next time you visit a page.
In order to clear the cache on TikTok, you need to go to your TikTok profile. So, tap on the “Profile” button with a person as its icon.
Next, you need to go to the top right of your profile, and tap on the 3 horizontal lines. This is a menu button.
Now, a menu will slide up from the bottom of your screen. You need to tap on “Settings and privacy”.
Scroll down the settings page until you see the section titled “Cache & Cellular Data”.
In this section, you will see a button labeled “Clear cache” with a trash can as its icon.
You need to tap on it, and the cache will then be cleared!
4. Create a new TikTok account
The fourth way to change your interests on TikTok is to create a new account.
This means that you will have no interests on your new account, and you will be able to quickly set your interests as TikTok will be trying to find what you like to watch.
You can keep your current account, or you can delete it if you no longer want it as well.
In order to create a new account, you need to go to your TikTok profile.
Then, you need to tap on your username and this will bring up the “Switch account” menu.
Next, you need to tap on “Add account”
This will take you to a page where you can sign up for TikTok, or log-in to an existing account.
If you want to sign up for a new account, then you can use your phone or email or you can log-in with another social media.
Delete your old TikTok account
As we said earlier, once you have created your new account, you can delete your old one if you would like.
In order to delete your TikTok account, you need to go to your profile, and tap on the three horizontal bars in the top right.
Then, from the menu, you need to select “Settings and privacy”.
Look under the “Account” section and tap on “Manage account”.
At the bottom of the Manage account page, you will see the option for “Delete account”.
You can then follow the instructions to delete your old account.
But remember, you will lose all of the information on your old account if you delete it. This includes: Videos, drafts, messages, and much more. So, make sure you know what you will lose!
